Glencairn Garden in Rock Hill SC

Rock Hill Real Estate and Homes

I’ve lived in the Fort Mill/Rock Hill area for five years now and I feel like I witnessed the growth and completion of Glencairn Gardens.  Of course this park has been a part of Rock Hill for years and years.  I just happened to be around when the big push came to finish the job.  Big time Kudos to the leaders of Rock Hill down to the volunteers and
donors who made this special place possible.

After celebrating its 50th anniversary and seeing the completion of major expansion and enhancement projects, Glencairn Garden now offers eleven acres of beauty for residents and visitors to explore.

Enjoy a pleasant meandering stroll through the Water and Shade Garden and across the Japanese Bridge to the Cascade Fountain and Pond in the original section of the Garden.  Here you will also find the Performance Stage, the Wall of Whimsy, and many overlook areas with swings.  Sit a while and enjoy the calm and beauty that the Garden inspires.  The nearby Bigger House is surrounded by two showcase gardens containing an array of seasonal flowers.

As you continue your stroll, you will discover the Veterans Garden, a tribute to veterans of the past, present and future. In this area you will also find the Overlook Plaza, the Outdoor Classroom, and the second Cascade Fountain and Pond.  In addition to these special places you should also check out the Glencairn Garden Learning Center as well as the Bigger House and Patio where you can find out more about the history of the Garden.

If you enjoy this spot as much as I do, don’t hesitate to become a friend of the Garden or a Garden sponsor.

  • Come See Me Festival in Rock Hill SC

Come See Me Festival—Rock Hill SC

Rock Hill Real Estate and Homes

The citizens of Rock Hill would like to welcome you (early) to the 47th Annual

Come-See-Me Festival.  Whether you are a first time visitor, long time resident or new to the area there is always something entertaining to find.  I’ll hit some highlights here
but please reference the official website for all the specifics    Come-See-Me Festival.

This year will see many of the old favorites return and a number of new items have been added to the schedule.  Make sure you grab the brochure for all of the activities.  One big deal is the festival is going to help promote a Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Celebration to provide a much deserved acknowledgement to those who have served
and fought for this country.  You will also find details for the first Catawba Pow-Wow.  Another official Come-See-Me event is the Chalk On Main.  This event will be a fun filled evening designed for children and their families who can enjoy sidewalk chalk drawing and much more for the rest of us in historic
    Rock Hill.

The first festival was held in ’62 as a community project by then Mayor C.H. “Ickey” Albright to showcase our area and was also helped along by Vernon Grant, the creator of the Snap Crackle Pop characters.  He designed the Glen the Frog logo for the festival.

The Come-See-Me festival is considered one of the largest all volunteer festivals in South Carolina and attracts over 100,000 visitors and participants every year.  The Festival has been ranked in the South’s top ten spring festivals for years and has been featured in
    Southern Living Magazine twice.

So don’t miss out come out our way from April 15-24 and help us bring on the spring by enjoying the good things in life.  Family, friends, and good food.  Whether it’s a stroll to Glencairn Gardens for lunch and a concert, admiring 3500 azaleas, entering your frog in the Mayors Frog Jump, or enjoying an afternoon of fun at the Teddy Bear Tea Party, we
    hope you enjoy the festival.

And of course if you have any questions about real estate in this area please visit Rock Hill SC Real Estate and Homes.
